As far as the scratchiness goes, it's not like obtaining chanielle or fleece against your face but it is not sand paper, either (think cheap sheets/pillowcases with low thread count...no big deal!). I can't recommend this pillow enough (can you inform?!) and I will be using it long after the birth of my kid!
